(32.52S/42.15E) whilst sailing independently on a voyage from Calcutta and
Cochin to St John New Brunswick via Durban with 6500 tons of general cargo
including jute and tea. The Master, Captain William Buchanan, 44
crew and 6 gunners were rescued by RAN destroyers QUIBERON and QUICKMATCH
and landed at Durban. Four crew were lost. |
